Thank You's
Thanks to Joe Watkins for taking care of the lighting issues and to Lance Johnson for dealing with the plumbing problems.
Our gratitude goes to Paula Baccus for making the arrangements recently for two family gatherings following burials in the local cemetery. Paula coordinated the events as chairperson of the UMW committee responsible for this ministry. Thanks, also, to the many that helped Paula.
The Fellowship committee organized a reception preceding the church service on December 11 to honor Lori Campbell and to thank her for her service of many years as accompanist. Lori is attending nursing school and she and Shane are raising two teenage daughters and a young son and she feels the need to “take a break”. We wish her the best and will always be happy to have her share her talents. Thanks to the committee for the very lovely reception.
Many thanks to Louis Andersen for permitting us to use his original poems for both The Hanging of the Greens and the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service bulletins.
All of us appreciate the crock pots of chili that were prepared for the youth sponsored Chili Cook Off. Those preparing chili were Gail Eckart, Joan Miles, Jill Runnion, Colette Henderson, LaFaye Hudson, Kathleen Wedel, Danya Campbell, Peggy Kay, Gary Kay, Ruth Briggs and Pastor April Wegehaupt. The first place was awarded to LaFaye Hudson, second place to Peggy Kay and third place went to Pastor April.
An anonymous giver generously donated a fax machine for the church office. It is much appreciated!
Nursery Attendants
As we begin a new year the call goes out once again for those willing to serve as nursery attendants.
Presently serving this ministry is:
Kandi Buchwald
Angel Constable
Shayla Boyer
Tamala Lott
Cherryl Watkins
Cheryle Hardesty
Angie Darrow
Colette Henderson
Tamra Lynn
Pat Baccus
Barb Kibler
Deb Pounds
Mara Pounds
Peggy Kay
Nancy Robbins
Kristi Ocker
Becky McDuffee
Currently the rotation requires that one would be in the nursery no more than once a quarter. The more who sign up, the less often each volunteer would need to serve.
If you have suggestions on how this ministry can be improved or would like to sign up to be an attendant, please contact someone on the nursery committee or the church office. The current nursery committee is Mary Ann Tasker, Patti Bertrand and Darda Wedel.
Church Yard Sale
Plans are in progress for a Church Yard Sale to be held in early spring. The tentative date is Saturday, March 17. Blythe Atwell is the chairperson and if you have any ideas or suggestions, please visit with Blythe either before or after the worship service. More information will be coming but it is suggested that thought be given as to items you might like to donate for this fund raiser.
CHRISTMAS STORE
The Ottawa County Ministerial Alliance sponsored the Christmas Store once again this year. Donna Johnson, a member of our congregation, served as coordinator for this project for the first time and did an outstanding job of organizing. Due to her efforts, and those of a number of other volunteers, several families received food baskets and a number of families were able to shop in the Christmas Store. Thanks to Donna and other volunteers for making this project so successful!
“UN”DECORATING THE CHURCH"
Now that the holiday season is over, it is time to store the decorations until next year. Cassie Bohl, chairperson for the Outreach Committee, has scheduled this activity following the Second Sunday dinner on January 8. A few good men are needed to move the tree and some of the larger decorations. Please stay after the dinner to help if you can.
Office Hours
Beginning on Tuesday, January 3, the office hours will change on a trial basis. The secretary will be in the office from 8:30 until 12:30. We would like your input on this change so that if we get positive feedback a recommendation can be made to the Ad Council on January 11 to make this a permanent change. If your suggestion is to leave the office hours as is (9:00 – 1:00) please tell us that as well.
UMM
Because of the holidays, the UMM has not met for a couple of months. On Sunday, January 29, they will get back on schedule with their monthly breakfast at 8:00 a.m.

The UMW Executive Board Planning Meeting will be held at the home of Gail Eckart on Thursday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m.
The monthly meeting of the UMW will be on Tuesday, January 17, at 7:00 in the Wesley Room.
SECOND SUNDAY DINNER
The UMW will be hosting the Second Sunday Dinner on January 8th. They will be providing the entire meal – soup, bread and dessert. There will be donations taken with the proceeds going to the UMW.
T4C - Youth Group
The Youth Group has not met during the break for Christmas. The first meeting of the new year will be on Wednesday, January 4 at 6:30 p.m. The youth group is inviting all youth in the community to join and be a part of their group. They have some exciting plans for 2012!
